Behind Our Dining

Dining is central to the experience at The Morrow Hotel. As the D.C. food scene continues to grow, our restaurants bring together the vision of celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson and the rising talent of Executive Chef Anthony Jones. Their approach draws inspiration from the African diaspora, Ethiopia, Sweden, and the Mid-Atlantic, shaping menus that feel both connected to our city while celebrating their unique backgrounds. Guests move easily from dinner at MARCUS DC to evenings on SLY Rooftop, enjoying spaces designed to reflect the energy of the neighborhood.

Dinner at MARCUS DC

Since opening in 2025, MARCUS DC has become one of the most talked-about dining rooms in Washington. Robb Report named it the most beautiful restaurant in America, and the space lives up to that recognition with bold artwork, a striking marble bar, and a sense of movement throughout the room. Nearly two dozen artists helped shape the interiors, anchored by a beautiful mural from Derrick Adams that immediately draws you in.

What keeps guests coming back is the food. MARCUS DC and its vibrant brasserie is an ode to modern American cooking and Black culinary traditions from D.C. to Ethiopia. Blue cornbread arrives warm and is served with berbere honey. The menu’s seafood dishes reflect the bounty of Mid-Atlantic, while roast chicken brushed with mambo sauce brings a delightful twist to a familiar favorite. The menu makes it easy to order a few dishes, share with friends, and settle in for the evening.

A Rising Voice in the Kitchen

Executive Chef Anthony Jones is quickly becoming one of the most exciting chefs to watch in Washington. EATER DC named him Rising Chef of the Year for 2025, and in January 2026, he earned a prestigious James Beard Seminfinalist nod for Emerging Chef – recognitions that speak to both talent and momentum.

Many guests first spotted him as a winner on Chopped, with an upcoming appearance on Top Chef bringing even more well-deserved attention to his work. Together with Marcus Samuelsson’s expertise in global and Afro-Caribbean cuisine, Chef food you can’t help but love.

Chef Anthony’s cooking tends to stay close to home. Maryland crab feasts, regional seafood traditions, and seasonal Mid-Atlantic ingredients shape the menu in clear ways. The flavors feel comforting and familiar but never predictable, marrying classics with creativity. Every dish pays homage either to the place it was created or where the ingredients come from, giving guests a real connection to the region with each course.

Upstairs at SLY Rooftop

If you’re craving a nightcap after a flavor-filled meal, SLY Rooftop is waiting for you right upstairs. It’s a different kind of energy up here, with epic Capitol views, bold flavors, and a menu that stretches effortlessly from morning into late night. Inside feels modern and lively, while the open-air terrace shows off views of NoMa’s iconic water tower. It’s the kind of place you bring a friend visiting the city and they immediately understand why you love this neighborhood.

Small plates, seafood, and comfort favorites pair naturally with bright, spice‑driven cocktails. The atmosphere is social and easy, built for conversation. At some point in the evening, it’s inevitable that someone asks, “should we get another round?”

Both MARCUS DC and SLY Rooftop will serve as official Cherry Picks restaurants in partnership with the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, placing The Morrow at the center of one of the city’s most exciting seasonal celebrations.

The Month of Love

This month, Valentine’s Day provides a natural reason to plan something special, and the experience across The Morrow is designed to match the moment. At MARCUS DC, couples might begin with the Swediopian cured salmon or Mel’s Crab Rice before moving into whole fish or other seasonal plates.

Upstairs at SLY, we’ll save you a seat with the best views, so you can raise a glass to your love. Inside Goodie Lounge, select themed evenings open to the public, including a Valentine’s Day after‑hours event with music, late‑night bites, and guaranteed romantic vibes.

With the sharing-first approach taken by our restaurants, they are a natural pick for couples or friends looking to celebrate love together this month.

Come Back Hungry

The nights that stay with you usually begin the same way: good food, good company, and something that inspires you. At The Morrow, dinner can stretch into a drink upstairs, another conversation, or plans to come back soon. We hope it’s all three.
