In his role as Executive Chef at The Morrow, Stefanelli combines his sought-after approach to food and unique personal style to all of The Morrow’s on-site eateries, imbuing each with an undeniable sophistication reflective of the capital’s renowned restaurant culture.
Having originally set out to pursue a career in fashion in Milan, Stefanelli fell in love with cooking while studying abroad in Italy, and changed course by deciding to enroll in culinary school when he returned home. While his path may have changed, his resounding interest in fashion remains, and each of his restaurants uniquely reflect this. Stefanelli touches every detail – from the artful interior design and architecture down to the perfectly curated playlists.
From a culinary perspective, he is known for pushing boundaries and introducing guests to the unfamiliar. His first restaurant, Masseria, became a destination in and of itself after Stefanelli took the risk to open in D.C.’s Union Market district at a time when the neighborhood was unheard of for fine dining. Since then, Union Market has become a culinary hot spot, and Stefanelli is seen as one of its pioneers. He has continued to solidify his place as one of D.C.’s modern culinary innovators, with his finger constantly on the pulse of what’s next.
